A practice in two directions

Looking closely,
then letting go.

Animals begin with an attentive line. Landscapes begin with colour, weather and memory. Both are left with the evidence of the hand that made them.

Nothing is tidied into a perfect surface. The line, the paper and the changes of mind remain present.

05 — The studio

Speed gave way
to looking.

Robert Bradbury is a Surrey artist creating expressionist landscapes and wildlife line drawings. His earlier life moved through very different worlds: professional kitchens in his twenties, including work for Formula 1 teams, then investment banking in Canary Wharf.

Later years at home raising twins alongside his wife, a schoolteacher, brought a different rhythm. Drawing and painting became ways of slowing time and paying attention to animals, landscape and the emotional weight of place.

Each work carries the traces of its making. Presence matters more than polished exactness; atmosphere more than explanation.
